The purpose of this assignment is to introduce you to some basic concepts in Word and Excel. All written responses should be typed and your graphs should be generated in Excel. This project must be one complete word document. Submit your finished in your zip file via the digital dropbox (found in the tools area). This project must be done as an individual. (Future projects will be done in groups.)

1. Open a Word document.

In the top right hand corner type your name, the date, the course title, and then the assignment name. (Use the right justify command to do this.)

2. Open an Excel document.

In cell A1 type x.
In cells A2 through A31 type the numbers 1 through 30.

In cell B1 type 3x+5.
Next we are going to use excel to calculate the value of 3x+5 for the numbers 1 through 30.
In cell B2 type =3*A2+5.
Highlight cells B2 through B31.
Go to the edit menu and select fill, then down.

In cell C1 type x^2.
We are now going to use excel to calculate the value of x2 for the numbers 1 through 30.
In cell C2 type =A2^2.
Highlight cells C2 through C31.
Go to the edit menu and select fill, then down.

In D1 type ln(x).
We are going to use excel to calculate the value of ln(x) for the numbers 1 through 30.
In cell D2 type =LN(A2).
Highlight cells D2 through D31.
Go to the edit menu and select fill, then down.

In E1 type Roman Numerals.
Finally, we are going to use excel to translate the numbers 1 through 30 into roman numerals.
In cell E2 type =ROMAN(A2).
Highlight cells E2 through E31.
Go to the edit menu and select fill, then down.

3. Next we will copy and paste this table into our word document.
Highlight cells A1 through E31.
Go to the edit menu and select copy.
On the bottom toolbar click on your word document (entitled document – 1).
Make sure the cursor is on the left side of the document.
Go to edit and select paste.

4. Type your answer to the following questions below the inserted table.

Explain why you are taking statistics.
What do you hope to learn in this course?
What is your favorite movie?
If you could be anything you want, what would you be when you grow up?

5. Save your document.

6. Submit via the digital dropbox.
