This project is worth 50 points. All written responses should be typed and your graphs should be generated in Excel. This project must be one complete word document. Submit your finished project to the digital dropbox (found in the tools area). You will work on this project in your groups. Therefore, you only need to submit one project per group. Make sure you include all of your group member’s names on the top of the page along with the name of this assignment.

1. The failure rate of most condoms is around 3%. Consider a standard box of 12. Let x = the number of failures (0 through 12). Create a probability distribution. (You can use the binomdist function in Excel to accomplish this.) [15 pts] Use your table to answer the following questions:

a. What is the probability that none of them fail? [2 pts]

b. What is the probability that at least one will fail? [2 pts]

c. What is the probability that at most 6 of them will fail? [2 pts]

d. What is the probability that all 12 will fail? [2 pts]

e. What is the probability that between 5 and 10 will fail? [2 pts]

2. Craps is a popular dice game in Las Vegas. One player, called the shooter rolls two die and the rest of the table bets on the outcome of the die. The word craps is slang for 2, 3, or 12 (the sum of the two die). You can bet that craps will be the next roll by placing chips in the ANY CRAPS box.

a. What is the probability that the sum of two die will be 2, 3, or 12? [2 pts]

b. Create a probability distribution for ten rounds where x = the number of times craps is rolled. [15 pts]

c. What is the probability that craps will not be rolled during the ten rounds? [2 pts]

d. What is the probability that craps will be rolled at least once? [2 pts]

e. What is the probability that craps will be rolled all ten times? [2 pts]

f. What is the probability that between 3 and 7 craps will be rolled? [2 pts]
