Course Description: Depending upon completed prerequisite or COMPASS exam score, each student will be placed in either Math 081, Math 087, Math 096, or Math 098. Depending upon learning pace, each student may complete from one to all four courses in one quarter. Most students will complete one course this quarter.

Philosophy: I as an instructor
will do all I can to assist in the learning process, but the ultimate
responsibility lies with each individual student to do what is needed to
acquire knowledge, advance and achieve one's goals. To benefit most from the
concepts and techniques presented, the student should practice until all
assignments are completed and full understanding of the material is grasped.

Course Objectives: This course teaches students basic concepts and
creative approaches to solving problems. Students are encouraged to verbalize
their ideas about the mathematics covered and to work together to solve
interesting and complicated problems. The use of calculators is encouraged. The
course seeks to encourage and prepare students to take more mathematics courses
Student Attendance: Students must attend class daily for best
learning results.
Student Assignments: Daily assignments will be given. Assignments
should be fully completed for proper test preparation.
Exams: Final Exam must be completed with 75% or higher to receive course credit.
Special Needs: Students with documented disabilities who need course accommodations, have emergency medical information, or require special arrangements for building evacuation should contact the instructor within the first two weeks of class.
